How Can You Easily Troubleshoot Spectrum TV App for All OS?

Spectrum TV mobile application enables the user to watch live TV as well as On-Demand content directly from the mobile device for free. In addition to this, you can schedule recordings, tune your DVR, search for the content, go through the channel guide and many more by using your Spectrum TV app.

  • If you use Spectrum email account, use to your complete Spectrum username. In other words, include ‘@charter.net’ as well.

  • You have not yet created an email address/username, then follow these steps.
  • Try to sign in to your account using the new email address/username.


Streaming Video Issues
Unable to Stream Videos
  • When you are not able to stream videos in a proper manner, you can follow the troubleshooting steps listed below:
  • If you are at your home and not able to stream videos, check the connection of your device to the In-home Wi-Fi network.
  • Ensure you have the subscription to the Spectrum TV and Internet. In case, you are subscribed to Spectrum TV alone, you can only access the out-of-home channels. 
  • Ensure the availability of the channel for out-of-home streaming. For this, you can visit Spectrum support to ensure whether it is available for out-of-home streaming or not.


Insufficient/Limited Bandwidth 
Due to limited or insufficient bandwidth, the video begins to freeze or buffer and thus, gives you choppy playback experience. Follow the below troubleshooting steps to eliminate such problems:
  • If you are at home and facing buffering issue, ensure about the connection of your device with the In-Home Wi-Fi network. If not connected, try to troubleshoot your Wi-Fi network (the method to do so is given below in the article).
  • Turn the Wi-Fi ‘off’ in your device and then, turn it back ‘on.’
  • Restart your device by turning it ‘off’ and then, ‘on.’ 
  • Uninstall the Spectrum TV app and reinstall it. And, once again sign in to your account and try again.
  • In case you are using SpectrumTV.com instead on the app, refresh your web browser. If it doesn't help, clear the history, cookies and temporary files.


Watch on TV Issue
When you experience issues like TV mirroring is not working, follow the given troubleshooting steps:
  • Go to the ‘Devices’ option and ensure you have selected the Spectrum Receivers.
  • To watch a channel, tap on the 'Watch on TV' option. In case the app is not displaying this option, it means the channel is unavailable to watch on your television.
Note: Watch on TV option is available only for Spectrum TV users with passport guide or iGuide.
  • If you are having a problem with screen mirroring/TV mirroring and using Apple Airplay or Android Cast to watch your favorite shows, ensure that your device is connected to your Wi-Fi network. 
Note: The TV mirroring feature works only when your smartphone and television are connected to the same In-Home Wi-Fi system. 
  • Try to turn off your device and then, turn it back ‘on.’ After that, reattempt Watch on TV or TV mirroring. 


Authorization Is Not Allowed Issue
In case you are using your Spectrum TV App via a VPN connection, the application won't work. Therefore, go to the wireless settings of your device and disable the VPN.
  • iOS users follow: Settings > General > VPN
  • Android users follow: Wireless and Networks > VPN

Slow Internet or Wi-Fi Speed
Follow the given instructions to troubleshoot slow Internet and Wi-Fi speed problem:
  • At first, reset your router or cable modem.
  • When multiple devices are connected to the Internet at the same time inside your home, it weakens the signal of your wireless network. Therefore, turn off the Wi-Fi on some devices that are currently not in use.
  • Turn the Wi-Fi ‘off’ on your device and then, turn it back ‘on.’
